Gran Sabor Latino Restaurant
OUR PROCESS
It was clear to us at the very beginning that Gran Sabor was not only a place to eat but a cultural hub for the Latino community of Lancaster. To enhance the social interaction occurring at the restaurant we created an elevated sidewalk in front of the building. The new sidewalk engaged patrons on two levels and, in some instances, extended the perceived interior dining area to the exterior. In reflection of both the natural vibrancy of the food and the cultural strength of the people who make it, we chose to construct this restaurant with bright colors and the permanence of masonry. The metal awnings above the entrance and the exposed wood work on the interior transcend to a material language of the Dominican Republic.
